        Xavier's diet book rebels against recent dietary trends while still promising weight loss. He shares his personal weight-loss story: childhood weight struggles, weight loss, and a pandemic-fueled weight gain, all happening in conjunction with his creation of a social media presence that shifted from comedy to wellness when he decided his health wasn't a laughing matter. His cookbook starts with a primer on the rules he follows, which are simple and (as he promises) neither trendy nor restrictive. He advises eating fewer calorie-dense foods, aiming for a calorie deficit, exercising, meal planning, meal prepping, and keeping the kitchen stocked with staples like low-fat cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, olive oil, spices, frozen vegetables, and low-calorie versions of traditionally high-calorie foods such as sweeteners and tortillas. Some of the recipe titles are a little over the top (e.g., Revenge Body Pizza), but these wholesome takes on classics will satisfy eaters of many dietary preferences with their simplicity and taste. VERDICT Xavier's signature salads, including salmon sushi salad, the Baddie Caesar Salad, and burrito salad, are standouts, but the meat of this book is his ability to decrease the calories in classic foods while also easing the conversation around dieting.--Emily Bowles
