Grades K-3 *Starred Review* Who can resist chocolate--or a question like ""What would happen if you only ate chocolate?"" This book cleverly uses this intriguing question as a gateway to discussing nutrition and the ways food can affect our bodies' various functions. After beginning with a little girl grabbing a large bag of chocolate from a supermarket shelf, the author discusses what feels good about chocolate (its delicious taste, the burst of energy we might feel after eating it). He then proceeds to the unfortunate effects on the skin, heart, and kidneys from only eating chocolate as well as the diminished enjoyment that comes from having constant treats. Mongay's colorful illustrations personify various distressed body parts in addition to following the main character's woes from eating too much chocolate. The back matter provides sensible nutrition tips without being too busy, as well as fun facts and a glossary. The story resolves happily, with a plan to eat a smaller chocolate treat after dinner. A unique, whimsical approach to nutrition from the What Would Happen If . . . series (6 titles).
